2008 Federal Budget Dialogue

Date / Time: 14 September 2007 (Friday), 9.00 am – 12.00 pm Venue :Bayview Hotel, Georgetown, Penang

The 2008 Federal Budget Dialogue seeks to provide a succinct analysis of the 2008 Budget and the implications of the various policies and measures introduced. The 2008 Budget is a widely anticipated one as it is the second Budget under the 9th Malaysia Plan (9MP) and the Third Industrial Master Plan (IMP3). The 2008 Budget is expected to provide an insight into the directions and strategies that the Government plans to execute in implementing the 9MP, IMP3 and the Northern Region Development Region (NCER) as far as Penang is concerned. As Malaysia continues its task in strengthening and enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of the nation amidst a softening global economy, rising costs, oil prices and interest rates, it should be interesting to see the measures and fiscal policies that will be introduced by the Government to boost the nation’s economy and moderate inflationary pressures, and at the same time, to increase the quality of life of its citizens. The 2008 Federal Budget Dialogue will feature 3 distinguished corporate and academic figures in Malaysia who will share their views and perspectives on the impact and implications of the Federal Budget to the economy, market and business environment.
