Penang Local Government Elections Working Group Report
The Penang Local Government Elections Working Group was set up under the jurisdiction of YB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, State Executive Chairman of Traffic Management and Local Government, after the Penang Local Government Consultative Forum in October 2008.
The working group, headed by Dr Goh Ban Lee, convened three times to examine various reports and options, as well as to outline a roadmap for the Penang State Government to restore Local Government Elections in the state. Besides that, the working group also looked into various other recommendations outlined in the Penang Local Government Working Group Report (Dato' Anwar Fazal) to draw up this roadmap towards Local Government Elections.
The initial findings from the working group was presented in the Penang Local Government Consultative Forum on 31st March 2009, and on 21st May 2009, a press conference was called by YB Chow Kon Yeow to present the final report, and also the follow up action from the State Government.
