Over the past three decades, the State has acknowledged the significance of the logistics industry in terms of its role to support and complement the industrialisation process, as well as the revenue it has generated for the overall economy of Penang.  Nevertheless, the logistics industry has become more and more competitive and challenging over the past few years.  The Penang Logistics Seminar 2007 provides a platform for specialists in the field to share information and knowledge, as well as to encourage the participation of stakeholders including policy makers and planners in order to obtain a better understanding of logistics activities. Panel speakers will also address the issues & challenges in the optimal use of logistics, identify areas for improvement and opportunities for growth, as well as ways to enhance the competitiveness of the industry.

The Objectives are:-

  1. To establish a better understanding of the development of the logistics industry in Penang (including ways to improve supply chain operations);
  2. To discuss the repositioning of Penang as an international maritime centre (including identifying clusters with greater potential for growth);
  3. To identify relevant policies and measures required for enhancing the development of supporting infrastructure.
