Penang Tourism Seminar 2006 - "Marketing Tourism For Penang"

Over the past three decades, the State has acknowledged the significant role of the tourism industry in terms of the revenue it has generated for the economy of Penang.  Similar to experience worldwide, tourism industry is becoming more and more competitive and challenging in the past few years.  SERI is taking an initiative to organize the Penang Tourism Seminar 2006 to address the issues & challenges, with the view to identifying and enhancing strategies and also seeking opportunities for growth and revival of the industry.

The Penang Tourism Seminar 2006 was chaired by YBhg Dato’ Dr. Sharom Ahmat, Director of SERI cum CEO of Wawasan Education Foundation, and featured 2 distinguished speakers, namely Dr. Yee Lai Wan, Chief Executive Officer, Socio-Economic & Environmental Research Institute (SERI), and Mr. Bobby Tan Teong Soon, Penang Tourism Action Council (PTAC), who shared their views and perspectives on the issues and challenges, as well as the strategies and directions for the Penang Tourism Industry respectively.  There was also be a panel discussion where distinguished public and private figures of the industry are being invited to share their opinions and vision on how to market tourism for Penang.

"The tourism Industry is becoming more and more competitive since the past few years. This seminar aims to identify and further enhance the strategies on how to market tourism for Penang and seek opportunities for growth and revivial of the Penang tourism industry"
