About The Concert
This concert jointly organised by the Penang State Symphony Band and SERI is one of the many events being organized for the Environment Week. Songs and music are specially selected for the occasion. We would like you to come with your family, friends and associates to join in the celebration. Music is therapeutic and it is an integral part of our lifestyle. A healthy environment will enhance our appreciation of music. Activities organized during the Environment Week are to remind ourselves our role in environmental protection and conservation. Every little action counts. We hope the Environment Concert will help us reinforce the importance of individual action on environment.

The PENANG STATE SYMPHONIC BAND (PESSBAND) was formed in 2001 and is now under the portfolio of Y.B. TUAN SYED AMERUDDIN, the State Executive Councilor for Housing, Art, Culture & Heritage. Pessband is the only community symphonic band formed by the Penang State and is a voluntary organization. It is formed with the purpose of providing an avenue for band players to get together and share their talents, skills and experiences, to promote a positive music culture and to enhance music appreciation in Penang. School students make up 80% of the Band members, who are the best and the most talented players within their own schools. Pessband’s present conductor is Mr. NG HUCK AIK, a young but prominent musician, and also an accomplished trombonist.

Pessband is currently renting an activity room at the Moral Uplifting Society Penang for its weekly practice and other activities. We are setting up a music library with complete set of music scores, CDs and DVDs and to act as the hub of reference for the music schools in Penang. We are also seeking public donations to buy new or second hands instruments such as Tenor Saxophone, French Horn, Piccolo, Timpani and Bass Drum which we are currently renting from other organizations.

We welcome all those who share our passions & enthusiasms in music making.
